Meningitis:
It is an infection and inflammation of the membranes and fluid
surrounding the brain and spinal cord. If not treated
immediately it leads to brain damage, hearing loss, blindness
and fatal in some cases.
Poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis (PSGN):
It is an inflammation of kidney which occurs after a
streptococcal infection such as impetigo. It can sometimes lead
to kidney failure. It usually occurs about two weeks after a
person gets impetigo. The symptoms include swelling of the face,
blood in the urine, high blood pressure etc.
Cellulitis: It is the
infection of the tissues that lies under the skin and may slowly
spread to bloodstream and lymph nodes. If it is not treated it
may become dangerous.
Impetigo is frequently seen in the United States where about
9-10% of children with skin infections suffer with impetigo.
Through out the world about 2.6 episodes per 100 people have
been reported with impetigo. It occurs mostly in children, 90%
