Safety
measures to be taken while riding a minibike
Riders should exercise caution on minibikes because of their
high speed. Minibikes can go as fast as 40 m/ph. It is advisable
for riders to wear safety equipments like helmets, elbow pads,
knee pads ,gloves and ankle covering shoes to avoid injury from
collissions and other accidents.
Care should also be taken when you are riding on public roads.
You should also ensure that no collision happens with other
motorists and pedestrians. Always show hand signals before
taking turns and make sure you follow the traffic rules.
Legal action against minibikes
Minibikes became the focus for concern and safety due to the
rise in traffic violations and reports of certain anti-social
behaviour of bikers. However, due to the high risk of mini
bikes, authorities in various countries have resorted to legal
measures and enforcements to facilitate safe and legal bike
riding.
In many states in the Unites States, for instance, in California
and New York city, minibikes are banned on public roads. The
penalty may range from verbal reprimand to confiscation of the
vehicle. So is the case in the United kingdom and some provinces
of Canada.
Finally, it is the responsibility of the biker to ascertain the
safety of his minibike, especially when they are taken to the
public roads.
